Mmmm, ice cream...!

I saw a really cute ice cream card the other week, and it reminded me ... "hey!  I have that punch!" (yes, sad but true - I have so many punches I sometimes forget which ones I have.  Remind me to post a picture of them all one day).

It took me a while to get around to actually making my homage to the original, but it was worth it.  In hindsight, I think I could have added some bling to jazz it up a little, but the girl who eventually received this for her 14th birthday party last week loved it, and who could ask for more than that?

The cupcake from the Cupcake Builder Punch makes an awesome ice cream scoop!  And the Square Lattice Textured Embossing Folder really does have a waffle-cone sort of look about it :-)

Last days!

I have a couple of things I've made recently all ready to be photographed and shared here, but I just haven't had the time to get the camera out to take the pictures!

In the meantime, I would just like to remind you that there is only one week left to order any of the great products in the Autumn-Winter Mini catalogue ... I don't know for sure which, if any, of these products will carry over to the next catalogue, so why take the chance on missing out?  Contact me to place your order today today!

Recently I attended a small get together of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from my upline's extended "family" ... a swap was proposed and for a wonder, I actually got involved!  I rarely do swaps, as I have a very low boredom threshold, and doing more than about three of the same card sends me around the twist (which is why I dread Christmas each year lol).

Anyway, here's the card I ended up with ... it started with a desire to at last get around to using the Two Tags Bigz Die that I finally bought in May as well as the Cherry Cobbler embossing powder that I have had for months, and sort of grew from there.

The bottom right corner was masked with a piece of torn paper then stamped with En Francais in Crumb Cake.  I decided to lightly sponge the masked area with the same ink as well for a little extra definition.

After much debating with myself (and solicitation of advice from my 13 year old daughter, who frankly couldn't care less) I used a strip of Soft Suede cardstock down the left side of the card to balance out the greeting and sponged/stamped right side - I think I made the right decision in the end.

Sharp eyes might notice something about this card which may ... or may not ... be included in the next Stampin' Up! catalogue ...  I will leave it up to you to work it out :-)

Embossing Fun

A couple of weeks ago while flicking around the web, I came across a card using the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder - but not in a way I'd ever thought about before.

The stamper had turned the folder on its side and used just one edge to create a border across a card front, and I found it intriguing enough to have a try for myself.

Here's the original, and here's my take on the technique:

The original card is much nicer, but I do quite like how mine came out - it's the teensiest bit wonky but I think I'm the only one who can tell :-)

And so you can get a look at the wonkiness, a closeup:

See?  Barely noticeable!

Old Favourites

It's been a while since either of these stamp sets came out for a play ... Baroque Motifs, with its gorgeous swirl, really needs more air time, and Pocket Silhouettes with its cute little bunches of leaves.  I was inspired by this card over at Splitcoast Stampers (sooo much inspiration) and as always, ended up with something that wasn't much at all like the original - or, for that matter, anything much like what I had pictured in my head as I was creating *sigh*.

Now, can you see the mistake?  Here's a closeup for you ... I could have kicked myself when I realised what I'd done, but by that time it was all glued together and I didn't have the patience to try to dismantle it. In my defense, the light in my dining room/stamping area can be kind of dodgy and it was kind of late by the time I got to this step.  I knew I should have stuck with Rhinestone Jewels.

I wish I'd taken the time to curl the little flowers up a tad, as well, to give the whole thing a little more dimension.  Next time :-)

New product available!

Those of you who have bought the Simply Scored tool will already know how handy it is for scoring up boxes, rosettes, card bases, decorative lines ... there's a whole lot of stuff you can do with it!  Then there is the Metric Plate, available separately, with centimetre measurements instead of the standard inches.

And now there's another plate available to bring an extra dimension to the scoring fun!  From today, you can purchase the Diagonal Scoring Plate!  This plate has grooves every 1/8" at a 45 degree angle so you can whip up envelopes and other tricky folds in no time at all.

Contact me today to place your order!

We *still* {heart} our hostesses!

A reminder to contact me as soon as you can to book your July Stampin' Up! party ... the "We {heart} our Hostesses" promotion is still running until the end of this month, so if you would like to receive an extra $90 in Hostess Rewards drop me a line or give me a call to find out more!

PS.  I have some cards to photograph and upload, but I just haven't had a chance to get out the camera to take a half-decent photo.  Watch this space :-)
