Topsy Turvy Birthday Cake

Something a little bright for a change ... I realised just how much Crumb Cake I was using lately and decided to ramp it up a little.  Heavily inspired, may I add, by this card - I love the colour combination!

Here's a close up of the new Chevron Embossing Folder - love it!

Celebrate!

Here's a kind of sneak peek ... can I call it a sneak peek when the stamp set in question has already been available (in the Summer Mini Catalogue earlier this year)?  Probably not.  But it will be available again come September 1, when the new 2012-13 Annual Catalogue makes its debut (can't wait).

So here's just a card I made last night.  For a wonder, this was one card that actually looks a lot like the idea I had before I started, and I'm pretty darned happy about it too :-)

It was surprisingly quick to put together as well, once I'd worked out my colours.

The Melon Mambo strip has been scored at 1/4" intervals using the Simply Scored - just another way of adding a subtle texture to your papercrafts.  And above that, a row of embossed scallops using the Adorning Accents Folders.

Pretty Gift Card

Here's a fun stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalogue ... take a look, I'll wait here until you're done.  It's called "Topsy-Turvy Celebration", on page 22.  And a bargain at only $33.95 for wood mount (even cheaper for clear mount!)

Finished?  How cute is it?!  The cake can be a crown, there's a little scallop and even a tiny candle for the top.

The card itself is only about 8cm square, perfect for a little gift card.

I stamped the top layer of the cake twice - once in Pretty in Pink, and again in Pumpkin Pie to create a little overlay along the bottom.

Here's a closeup of my fabulous cutting job ... it was only a little fiddly, and as I was chatting with friends at the time, it was no chore at all and was done in no time.

Don't forget that until the end of March 31, for every $100 you spend on products from the Idea Book & Catalogue or Summer Mini Catalogue, you can get a FREE stamp set, paper pack of embellishments pack from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue (check out the link near the bottom of the page to download a PDF copy) - take a look and start planning your order now!
