Cheep Talk Variation #2

The other day I posted a picture of a card I'd made with Cheep Talk, one of the stamp sets on special this month (waqs $47.95, now $38.36!). Here's another one I whipped up the other day.

The first card was made at the monthly stamp club I attend (held in Glen Waverley on the last Saturday of the month - if you want more details give me a call, new members are always welcome!), and as always, I didn't have all the things I really wanted to use - after all, you can't drag everythign along (although, believe me, I've tried LOL).

So that night, I made this one, which is much more like I was picturing.

How cool is this? I finally got around to pairing up my Scallop Circle die with my Circle Scissor Plus (which can cut circles up to 6 inches in diameter!) to create the perfect layers.

And see the branch now has a pear sprouting from the bottom? That's the beauty of Two-Step Stampin'! Both the pear and the stalk are two separate stamps, which were carefully positioned using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.

**Retiring stamp sets!

And as you can see, just a heads up that if you don't buy Big Bold Birthday, A Rose is a Rose or Playful Petals this month or next month, you will miss out as they are retiring as of August 31. So why not snap them up at a bargain price?

Big Bold Birthday has been a favourite of mine, as shown in these posts. I haven't used it in a while, better drag it out and dust it off *g*.

Cheep Talk is another set which I can highly recommend - with 11 stamps in the set there are so many different ways of using it. There's two cute little birdies, a branch, three phrases and a few different things to stick on or around the branch to create a picture. Here's one variation (keep an eye out - I will post another variation in a couple of days).

Wonderful Favourites is possibly the best value stamp set you'll ever buy, and at $31.96 during July it is an absolute bargain. The set comprises the words "Wonderful" and "Favourite" in nice big curly writing, then has 21 stamps with words like "mother", "father", "in law", "to my", "and" and so on, so you can build up a personalised greeting for your favourite people.

Lastly, if you are planning on buying a Two-Step Stampin' set, can I recommend purchasing a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig if you don't have one already? These little tools are invaluable for lining up those tricky elements so that you can position them just so on your cardstock.

Love this birdie!

The little birdie here is just so cute and plump *g*. His friend from the set Cheep Talk is a little taller and a little more confident, but this little guy just gets to me. Oh, and he fits nicely in the 1-3/8" circle punch which is a bonus.

You can see that I have used to different colours on the pear on this card (not counting the stem, which is a separate stamp) - to do this I inked the pear with More Mustard, then carefully rolled the edges of the inked stamp in the Ruby Red inkpad.

The bird was inked with More Mustard, then the body was coloured with my Ruby Red marker (which is why it looks a little mottled - not actually my intention, but I don't have a More Mustard marker. Yet).

Oh, and have you noticed the crisp, beautifully focused photograph? Yes, I bought a new camera to replace the one I bought only a few months ago - I finally decided that there was no way it was going to take a decent photo and upgraded. My daughter is enjoying her "new" camera *g*, and I no longer dread taking photographs.

Happy Birthday Anne-Marie

(I hope that the card has already arrived and been opened, otherwise this will be a big surprise for you *g*).

It was my friend Anne-Marie's birthday the other day, and so (late as always) I whipped this up the night before to get it in the post on the day so it would arrive only one day late. Rather than my usual effort of several days, if not weeks, late.

The layout was pretty much totally CASEd from this card posted on Splitcoast Stampers.

Four of the seven flowers were stamped separately and attached with dimensionals, as was the body of the bird (and boy, am I wishing I had a Pumpkin Pie marker - that beak was tricky to ink off the pad *g*) and the greeting. My Stamp-A-Ma-Jig came was invaluable for ensuring the flower stalks were evenly placed and the three flowers at the back were positioned correctly.

And the birthday greeting? One of the new "individual" stamps from the Summer Mini Catalogue - a very useful stamp to own, and see how beautifully it fits into the Wide Oval Punch? Love that!

More Cheep Talking Birdies

I am still loving this stamp set, as you might have seen from my previous posts here. What can I say? It's cute and with the number of stamps in the set there's a lot to mix and match.

This card is totally CASEd from one my friend Lizzie showed me the other night. I have changed it a little, mostly in adding the border around the punched circle (how did I do that? Easy! Punch a 1-3/8" circle, and then carefully line up the scallop circle so that the punched circle is centred).

And to add a little depth to it the Ruby Red layer is popped up on dimensionals. These things are awesome - I use them on every second card I make these days, and a packet will last for ages.

Inspiration comes from all sorts of places ...

... including your local Spotlight store *g*.

I nicked in the other day to grab a couple of things, and on passing the bedding displays was taken by a doona cover which I noted was Very Vanilla with a Night of Navy and Kiwi Kiss pattern. Well, I'm sure the manufacturer of the cover called them something completely different, but I knew what they really were.

In the end I had to substitute - I don't own Night of Navy or Kiwi Kiss (yet) but Not Quite Navy and Old Olive are a fair substitute ... for now.

This is just such a cute set!

Cheep Talk

Have you seen this set? It's so darned cute!

Aside from the birdie, flower, heart and branch stamp shown here, the set contains a whole bunch of other little stamps which coordinate to create all sorts of different looks.

There is a slightly larger bird facing the opposite direction, a larger more decorative flower, a pear, a little stalk (which can be used with either the flower or pear), and three phrases which are curved to nest in with the branch.

I had no idea what was going to happen when I sat down last night to create something with all these stamps, but I'm glad I tried - halfway through I thought I was going to have to chuck it in the bin and start again, then I added the Certainly Celery layer and ribbon and voila!

You probably can't see the spots on the Chocolate Chip layer - I don't have any matching Designer Series Paper so made my own using the dotty stamp out of Big Bold Birthday.

(PS Pauline, yes I know it's pink ... sometimes you just have to go with what feels right. I'll try for a different colour combination next time).
