More Circles

When I dragged out my Circle Circus stamp set the other night (see previous post), I must have been on a roll, because this card just sort of popped up out of nowhere demanding to be made.  For a stamp set I have had a lot of trouble with in the past, I am awfully proud of this card!

And how awesome does the combination of Pacific Point and the new Summer Starfruit look?  Summer Starfruit is an odd sort of colour, which here looks green, but next to a green looks yellow.  Weird *shakes head*.

The Summer Starfruit strip of cardstock was originally going to just go across the entire card until I thought I wanted it to look kind of "ribbon-y" - so out with the square punch to cut a nick out of the end (much neater and easier than trying to cut it with scissors - I would have had to trim it here then trim the other side to make it even, then trim the first side again to match and so on until I had nothing left!).

Supplies used:
Stamp(s): Circle Circus
Ink: Summer Starfruit, Pacific Point

Cardstock: Pacific Point, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
Other: 1-3/4" Circle Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, 1-1/4" Square Punch, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder

Birthday Circles!

I hate to admit that I struggle with this stamp set ... yes, I know, I'm supposed to be in the business of encouraging you guys to want everything (and buy it from me LOL), but this set, which I received at a convention a few years back, has always been a challenge to me.

So, internet to the rescue!  I am ashamed to say that I completely CASEd this card, right down to the positioning of the stamps and the colours (although the original used Real Red and Bashful Blue, as far as I could tell).  I'm afraid I can't give credit to the original creator - it was a random pin on Pinterest, with no real link back to the original site (and, yes, I tried an image search on Google, still didn't come up with the original).   Original creator, whoever you are, thank you ...

Anyway, my version (which has now gone to a good home - happy birthday, Anne-Marie!).

Interactive Cards

Sometimes it's fun to make (and receive) interactive cards ... ones that you push, pull, fold or otherwise manipulate.

As soon as I saw this particular stamp (part of the oh-so-sweet "Fox & Friends" from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue), I thought "spinner card".

After all, what monkey can resist twirling around ... and he's just so darned cute!

I used the same layout as this card from a while back, and whipped this up in almost no time at all!

The only stumbling block was that the only circle punch that fit the monkey stamp was my largest 1-3/4" circle, so I had to drag out my new Circle Scissor Plus to make the So Saffron circle to layer it onto. I can see I need a little more practice with that gadget *g*.

The best thing about making spinner cards is they are a snap to make and then you get to play with them for half an hour afterwards!

And because I liked the monkey so much, I made this card a couple of days later. This little guy fits neatly into the 1-1/4" circle punch.

Then, I must have been on an owl-frenzy, because I found a pattern for this little guy yesterday and quickly put him together last night. Shame I couldn't find any cute socks, and had to use a pair of mens' business socks *sigh*. But they were clean!

No Stampin' Up! products used, but isn't he so cute!

Something different

... and you can blame Pauline for this LOL!

Recently Pauline and Gail came over for a stampin' night, and as always we ended up trying out new ideas - colour combinations in particular. Based on a challenge by Pauline, I had to use Gable Green, Bordering Blue and Not Quite Navy - completely out of my comfort zone, colourwise, I have to add.

This is what I ended up with. Still not sure about it, to be honest, but at least I can say I tried *g*.

One Sheet Wonder

Ages ago, I posted this sneak peek of a One Sheet Wonder I made as part of a display for a craft show.

It just occurred to me the other night that I never actually posted the finished result.

So for those patient people who have been checking frantically every day to see if it's up yet (yes, I know you're out there *g*), ta-dah! Here it is!

The photos are a little dark - it was late, I was tired, and these darned low-energy lightbulbs just don't work as well as incandescent ones - but you can get the idea at least.

Here are a couple of closeups (because I've got a nice camera that does brilliant macros *g*).

Paperific is coming!

For those of you in Melbourne, here's a reminder to keep June 19-21 free ... the next Paperific is being held at the Melbourne Showgrounds on these days, and I'm sure it'll be a great show as always.

There will be all sorts of vendors there for all your scrapbooking, stamping and papercraft needs, and of course there will be a Stampin' Up! stand manned (womanned?) by some friendly demonstrators including myself.

As you probably know, we can't actually sell any catalogue stock from our stand, however we will have catalogues available for purchase, as well as card and ribbon packs, and as always beautiful samples to look at. We will be running make & takes and demonstrations throughout the day.

So drop on by! I will be working at the stand on the Friday and Saturday and would love for you to visit!

By the way, the picture shown here is a "sneak peek" of one of my displays for the stand ... if you want to see more, you'll just have to visit us. Or wait until after the show when I will show the whole thing *g*.
