I am finding myself a little emotional as I look back over the past few years of this blog ... I had no idea just how many cards I had made and shared!
Today we're looking at Trendy Trees - a cute (and inexpensive) little set. This one was a lot of fun to play around with, as being a two-step stamp set, you can really get creative with the images you build.
If you click on the pictures you will be taken to the original post
which should outline the materials used on each card. Keep in mind that
some of these are several years old and as such, quite a bit of the
Stampin' Up! product used has long since retired

More remade samples

Here's a card I remade, using this one as a template. As you can see, I pretty much stuck with the formula, and am very happy with the result.
The stronger colours work particularly well here, I think - Riding Hood Red is one of my new favourites lately!
Supplies used:
Stamp/s: Trendy Trees
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Riding Hood Red, So Saffron, Soft Suede
Cardstock: So Saffron, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White
Other: Funky Forsest Stampin' Around Standard Wheel, Stampamajig, Stampin' Around Wheel Guide

Pink Trees

And while the temptation is strong to stamp the trunks in brown and the leaves in green (or shades of orange for autumn cards), sometimes you just have to be a little different.
I'm pretty happy with the way this card came out - it is of the style I have seen called "Clean And Simple" (or CAS for short), which really sums up my own personal style of stamping.
If you look really closely (the picture is a little dark), you might be able to see that I have used another of the tree tops - a dotty sort of spiral - to decorate the Chocolate Chip layer.
During the month of July, selected Two-Step Stampin' sets are 20% off, and while Trendy Trees isn't included (hey, it's already at a bargain price!), Wonderful Favourites shown here is. Normally priced at $39.95, you can buy this 23 piece stamp set during July for only $31.96.

A little forest *g*

This little forest of trees was just me grabbing out a few random ink colours to see what would happen - who would have thought they would work so well?
I also got out the matching Funky Forest wheel to add a bit of interest to the layering.
While on the subject of wheels, can I interest you in a Stampin' Around Wheel Guide? I am a bit, um ... defective when it comes to straight lines, so whenever I am using my Stampin' Around Wheels, I always use the guide as well to ensure I'm not going off the straight and narrow. I find that when using the "standard" wheels, they can tend to wobble a bit - the Wheel Guide helps overcome this problem.

Trendy Trees

I would have liked to use patterned paper as the orange layer, but I don't have any ... so made my own! That's part of the fun of this whole inks/paper/imagination thing ... I've made a textured layer by stamping the leaves from this tree all over the orange cardstock in matching ink (then sponged the edges).
Trendy Trees is a really cute little set - which, by the way, was part of the Convention package for all those of us lucky enough to get to Canberra earlier this month. The set has two tree trunks, four mix 'n' match tree "tops" and a couple of phrases (one of which was used in the first card in this post), all for under $32.
There's also a matching wheel, which is next on my list of things to buy. That list is too long *sigh*
