for Sandra
This is almost unheard of ... the other day I made an actual card to send to an actual person! Mostly the cards I make are used as samples, and eventually (once the featured items retire) end up in a box through which my daughter digs each time she needs a birthday card quickly.
But this time I had a recipient in mind, made the card (based on this one - isn't it gorgeous?) and remembered to mail it! I could have used an old sample card for her, but that just didn't seem right for the occasion.
So here you have it ... my card for Sandra. I hope it made her happy :-)
Tips for anyone attempting this ... firstly, make sure your square punch is sharp *sigh*. Secondly, lay all your squares out and work out exactly what you want the card front to look like - don't leave it to chance like, perhaps, might have happened here. Lastly, have some sort of guide on hand so that you can keep the squares lined up evenly.

Improvements to the Online Store
If you've checked out the Online Store recently, you may have noticed a few changes going on ... here's a quick summary:
- There is no longer a two-tiered pricing system - each product has one price, and that's the price you pay.
- You will need to select a demonstrator (if you haven't already).
- You can now shop using a Guest Account if you prefer not to create a profile for your purchases. You will still need to select a demonstrator (and I hope it's me!) and have the option to be contacted or not, as you wish.
- You can now easily save bag contents. Also, when adding items to your bag, you can choose to go directly to the bag or continue shopping. They have also included a progress bar to guide you through the ordering process.
- Additional images are available for products.
- You can sort the list from oldest to newest, or the other way round - perfect to see what's been added since the last time you looked (especially handy for MDS downloads, with new additions every week)
- Sale prices are now clearly marked.
- There are some hostess code updates.
- You can state whether or not you want to be contacted by a demonstrator after your order - there is no requirement to check the box if you don't wish anyone to get in touch.
**NEW** Thinlits Card Dies
Ever wanted to make a swing card, but been daunted by all the messing around with measurements and precision cutting? Well, have I got the solution for you!
Introducing the new Thinlits Card Dies - two different styles to choose from. Each comes with the Thinlit to create the card base, as well as an assortment of dies to accessorise your creation.
Circle Thinlits Card Die $55.95 |
Label Thinlits Card Die $55.95 |
The card dies will also co-ordinate with many stamp sets in the catalogues - the Circle card die coordinates with Worth The Wait and Five Way Flower, while the Label card die coordinates with the Happy Day stamp set. Both dies can also work well with the Oh Hello, Yippee Skippee, Really Good Greetings and Regarding Dahlias stamp sets. And, what a remarkable coincidence - Happy Day, Oh Hello and Yippee Skippee are currently on special for 25% off (until October 28 only).
Not sure how to use these new card dies? Stampin' Up! have provided a handy-dandy YouTube video to walk you through using your new Thinlits card dies - take a look to see just how easy it will be to make your own swing cards using this new product.
I will be ordering mine in a week or two - can't wait to have a play with them! Contact me or check out the Online Store (search for Thinlits) to order yours today!

NEW! My Library for My Digital Studio™
Those of you who are now using My Digital Studio™ would know it can be tricky to keep track of what you've bought, not to mention all the great downloads you want in the future.
Well, there is now a solution! Stampin' Up! has released an app (currently only for the iPad and iPad Mini, although I am told that a version for other devices is in the works) where you can keep track of your purchases, make a wish list, browse downloads and see the latest releases. You can even link directly to the Online Store to shop for new downloads!
I downloaded the app the other night to have a play, and found it easy to use and very attractively designed as well :-)
You can't actually link your copy of MDS to the app, so you will have to manually search and add your purchases to your own list, but it's not at all difficult and is actually kind of fun to see what you already own - I found myself seeing my older downloads as if for the first time and thinking of ideas to use them as I went through the catalogue.
The app is free, too, so what's stopping you from downloading it today? Even if you don't have MDS, you can get the app and browse the great digital content - many of the files available can be used in any graphics program.
As always, contact me if you want more information about My Digital Studio™, the My Library for My Digital Studio app or anything Stampin' Up!, just drop me an email.

All Dressed Up
My dear friend Anne-Marie had a birthday recently, and here is the card I made for her to help her celebrate. Very little stamping involved, but somehow a table (and kitchen bench) full of cardstock, dies, accessories, and general stamping mess went into the creation of this.
It didn't really come out as I had pictured it (do these things ever?) but I was pretty happy with the result. And I can't believe it's taken me two months to get around to matching Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay with Elegant Eggplant! Green and purple - what an awesome colour combination :-)

Stamps: Everything Eleanor, Sketched Birthday
Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Elegant Eggplant, Soft Suede, Whisper White

Faux Washi Tape
You may have noticed the latest thing in stamping and scrapbooking is washi tape (well, it's been around before - but it's back!)
You can buy rolls of the stuff (Stampin' Up! has a small range, and I keep forgetting to dig mine out to play with it), but you can also buy this ...
Yep, faux washi tape :-)
Naturally I had to have this set, and it's going to be a lot of fun to play with. The first thing I did was stamp some faux tape across the back of an envelope I was mailing for my husband (I have no idea if the recipient appreciated it, but it amused me).
Then I made this ...
Using my new favourite birthday stamp (from the Sketched Birthday set) - I love this one because it fits with the Bitty Banners framelits, and they are a snap to use with my beloved Magnetic Platform for my Big Shot.

Still here ... still stamping!
It's been very quiet around here lately - and I have pretty much no excuse. So without further ado, here's a card I made at Stamp Club a while back - just messing around with some of the limited inks, papers and stamps that I had on hand at the time.
I've used the chevron oval from Oh Hello, and the flower from the same set, inked using markers and trimmed closely. The background is En Francais, stamped in the new Smoky Slate.

Cardstock: Smoky Slate, Crisp Cantaloupe, Whisper White
Ink: Smoky Slate, Crisp Cantaloupe
Accessories: Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green Stampin' Write Markers
And here's a similar card, with Raspberry Ripple instead of Crisp Cantaloupe. Looks like I need a little more practice with the Stampamajig to get those greetings straight :-)
